Okay. This moment. These two seconds when she tells him to go away killed me. It just killed me. Let’s backtrack. This is the guy who pretty much shunned her the moment he met her. Then he was in awe of her awesomeness. And then he was infatuated. Speed up to the finale where he’s the one to do EVERYTHING with her. He doesreconnaissancewith her. He volunteers to face Amon with her, knowing full well that he could get his bending taken away.
And for all intentional purposes, she has made him a better bender. She really has. I know that people have some kind of problem with saying that Korra tapped into her airbending when Mako was threatened, but I kind of agree at the same time. Mako is arguably, one of her best friends. He’s the one she admired at the arena and on the radio and him being in danger, her BEST FRIEND, would definitely trigger some kind of bending for her, I think.
Back to this. They’ve all traveled to the South Pole. Imagine how that trip must have been. Korra’s still on edge and everyone is helpless to what to do. They’realldepending on Katara to do something and let’s face it, at that point, if Katara can’t do anything, they know there’s no hope.
Then it turns out Katara cannot do anything. She’s tried. And when Korra comes out, every single person she loves is in that room. Her entire family. Her entire world. They’re there. But that doesn’t mean anything to her right then and there. She’s lost. She’s broken. She’s destroyed.
They know she needs to be alone, but when she leaves, Mako can’t help but follow her. What sucks so hard is that you can tell the way he looks at her that he LOVES her. He loves her to death. He would go to the Spirit World and back for her. Even before he says it, we all know.
But Korra, SWEET PAINED KORRA tells him to go away. And her voice changes. She’s never used this voice. She thinks he’s there because she was the Avatar. Now she thinks she’s nothing. And she doesn’t want him seeing her this way. To have the strength to tell him to go away is hard to watch. The one thing she wants to do is burst into tears later, but she doesn’t want to let him see her in her rawest. He’s seen her lose her bending. He’s seen everything, but she doesn’t want him to see her at what she thinks is her lowest.
He wants to be the one to see her that way.
And it hurts so much to see her not letting him.

oh god what perfect commentary.

Totally feel what you said. Korra seems the one running away now and her walls are up. She doesn’t want to let Mako in and see her at her lowest point. But he wants to be there for her. He wants to ensure her thats ok and it will work out if she just let him in.

well crap this made me tear up a little

stahp it guyz STAHP IT.

{It hurts so much I think I’m having a heartattack ow }
