Korra: “Mako? Wow! I-I heard you play on the radio!”
Mako: *eyes filled with complete indifference, clearing ignoring her*

Endgame:
Korra: “I love you, too.”
Mako: *eyes filled with complete joy soften as he hears these words*

The eyes are called the gateway to the soul for a reason. They show us without words what a person is truly thinking and feeling. To really understand Mako’s feelings for Korra, all one needs to do is look at his eyes as the episodes progress. As it goes on, they become increasingly less harsh towards Korra. Once episode 9 comes to a close, it is clear that he is in love with her just by looking at the gentleness seen in his eyes.

For those of you who don’t ship Makorra, his eyes are also a good way to interpret his character at times. ^_^
